| AGASTYA Agastya
and his decedents have written many mantras of the Rig Ved which
is considered as the earliest. Agastya is considered as on of
the greatest of the Seven Sages (Saptarshis). Agastya was son
of both Gods Mitra and Varun from Urvashi.
According to a story Agastya once asked the Vindya mountain range to give him passage across to the south and the mountain bent low enough so that Agastya and his family can pass through. The Vindhya Mountain also promised not to increase in height until Agastya and his family returned to the north. Agastya settled permanently in the south and the Vindhya Mountain kept his word and never grew further. It is said that the science of Vastu Shastra originated from Agastya. Agastya was master in the field of Medicine, Astrology and Nadi astrology. |
