Rishi Vamdev was the son of Rishi Gautam and Ahilya. Rishi Vamdev also had 2 brothers known as Nodha and Shatanand.

Vamdev is the creator of most of Mandala 4 of the Rig Ved. He also contributed in Yajur Ved and Sam Ved.

Vamdev had a son named Brhadukth.
