Karush
were ancient people and Janapad known to Panini and mentioned in
Mahabharat / Ramayan.

Jat clans :
Karesi is an ancient gotra of Jats found in Chittorgarh, Tonk districts
in Rajasthan are probably descendant of Karush.
Khar - Bhim Singh Dahiya considers Greek Chrysei to be Karush of
Sanskrit literature, are the Khar Jats.
History :
V. S. Agrawala writes that Ashtadhyayi of Panini (IV.1.178) mentions
janpad Karush, under Bhargadi (IV.1.178).
Sandhya
Jain writes that Karush - A very ancient tribe and prominent ally
of Pandavs; possibly hailed from the south of Kashi. Mahabharat
(VI.10.39).
Jat
History :
Bhim Singh Dahiya considers Greek Chrysei to be Karush of Sanskrit
literature, are the Khar clan of Jats.
According
to Bhim Singh Dahiya they are the Chorasmians of ancient writers,
the Khairsao of Avesta. Their king Khera Khan is mentioned in Mricehitik.
Genealogy
of Karush :
Manu prayed to Vishnu for one hundred years for other sons. He got
ten sons like unto himself. Ikshvaku was the eldest.

Karush - The sons of Karush were the Karushs, a race of pious Kshatriyas,
who guarded the north.
In
Ramayan :
Ramayan - Bal Kand Sarg 24 mentions that While crossing over the
River Ganga, sage Vishvamitra sails Ram and Laxman through its confluence
with River Sarayu, which flows at their capital Ayodhya. The sage
leads them to a deadly forest on the other bank of River Ganga and
narrates about the provinces Malad and Karush and the ambushing
nature of demoness Tatak. This is given in shloks (I.24.17-1).

Karush is mentioned in Mahabharat (I.61.58), (I.70.13), (II.13.10),
(II.13.12), (VI.10.39), (VI.52.13), (VI.112.73), (VII.13.15-18),
(VIII.51.6), (XIII.116.68), (XIII.115),
Adi
Parv, Mahabharat / Mahabharat Book I Chapter 61 gives Genealogy
of the Danavs, Asurs, Kauravs, Pandavs, Gandharvs, Apsaras, Rakshashs.
Karushk is mentioned in verse (I.61.58). "The tribe of kings
called the Karushks, and also Khemadhurti; Srutayu, and Udvah, and
also Vrihatsen".

Parv, Mahabharat / Mahabharat Book I Chapter 70 mentions Genealogy
of Daksh, Manu, Bharat, Ruru, Puru, Ajamidh, Yadav, Kuru. Karush
is mentioned as son of Manu in verse (I.70.13). "And Manu begat
ten other children named Ven, Dhrishnu, Narishyant, Nabhag, Ikshvaku,
Karush, Saryati, the eighth, a daughter named Ila, Prishadhru the
ninth, and Nabhagarisht, the tenth."
Sabha
Parv, Mahabharat / Book II Chapter 13 mentions about Karush Kingdom
in verses (II.13.10) and (II.13.12). And, the mighty Vak, the king
of the Karushs, capable of fighting by putting forth his powers
of illusion[14], waiteth, upon Jarasandha, as his disciple. There
are two others, Hans and Dimvak, of great energy and great soul,
who have sought the shelter of the mighty Jarasandh. There are others
also viz., Dantvakra, Karush, Karav, Meghvahan, that wait upon Jarasandh.
Sabha
Parv, Mahabharat / Book II Chapter 48 mentions Describes Kings who
presented tributes to Yudhishthir. I also beheld there numberless
chiefs of the Kirats armed with cruel weapons and ever engaged in
cruel deeds, eating of fruits and roots and attired in skins and
living on the northern slopes of the Himavat and on the mountain
from behind which the sun rises and in the region of Karush on the
sea-coast and on both sides of the Lohitya mountains.

Parv, Mahabharat / Book VI Chapter 10 gives a list of kings and
Kshatriyas. Karush is mentioned in shloka (VI.10.39) along with
Chedis and Bhojs etc.
Bhisma
Parv, Mahabharat / Book VI Chapter 52 mentions the Karush in war
with the Pandav army along with Chedis and Kashis in shlok (VI.52.13).

Parv, Mahabharat / Book VI Chapter 112 mentions Karushs with Chedis
and Kashis in shlok (VI.112.73).
Fight
with Krishna : Dron Parv of Mahabharat attests that Krishna had
vanquished the Darads along with Ang, Vang, Magadh, Kashi, Kosal,
Vats, Garg, Karush, Pundra, Avanti, Daserk, Kashmir, Ursa, Madugals,
Kambojs, Pisachs, Cholas, Malavs, Sakas, Yavans etc.
Karna
Parv / Mahabharat Book VIII Chapter 51 mentions Kurush in verse
(VIII.51.6) on seventeenth day with the Panchals, the Matsyas, the
Kekayas, and the Chedis in the Mahabharat war.
Anushashan
Parv / Book XIII Chapter 116 gives List of Kings who had abstained
from flesh in Karttik month. This includes Karush in verse (XIII.116.68).
In
Purans :
Hukum Singh Panwar gives the ancestry of Bharatpur rulers as quoted
by Ganga Singh.
This
gives the name of son of Yadu as Krosya. Bhagavat Puran mentions
this name as Krosht. Krosya may be the epiperson who gave name to
Karesi Gotra.
