ATLAS
CLOTH
Atlas
is also known as Adras, Ikat and Satin. Satin is a weave. Satin
can be created by used silk or other materials. Silk comes with
more strength and silk will have a more shimmery appearance
compared to satin’s glossy surface with a dull back.
Atlas
is a type of Ikat that Uyghurs also used traditionally for woman's
clothing, however, more and more Uyghur fashion designers are
introducing Etles to Men's clothing. Atlas
silk is an embodiment of the wisdom and civilization of Xinjiang
ethnic groups.
There are strong reasons to believe that Satin might be originated
from Greater Iran and then spread to other countries.
At our Sati Maa place after marriage Atlas cloth is offered
the reason behind this according to me (Dr. Gaurav A. Vyas)
is that since we have Iran roots and Atlas cloth has been in
our culture we joined it with Sati Maa so that we don't forget
our Iran roots.
To
understand more about Atlas we have to understand Central Asia,
Greater Iran, etc. I am sharing little information about Greater
Iran, Satin, etc. on this page because there is a lot of history
and culture involved in it and if I start to include it than
the entire Atlas cloth subject will get diluted.
