The
three degrees essentially correspond to three different combination
of attunements which generally promote different shift of openings.
They serve different purposes. After four first degree attunements
the mind and body go through 21 day cleansing process and if REIKI
treatment is given daily the life force energy continues to increase
gradually and the next attunement can be better integrated.

Can I take on other person's negativity or illness when I treat them with Reiki :
The Universal Life Force Energy is channeled and drawn through you and not from you so, negativity or illness cannot be passes from one person to another.
