GAUTAM / GAUDUMU / PU-ANNUM FAMILY TREE

Many people have an urge to know about their lineage which makes them write about their genealogy. The most ancient text which is present is of Arya's known as Veds. The oldest Ved is Rig Ved. Veds describe most of the incidents and events related to ancient Mesopotamia nowadays known as Iraq.

After Veds came Upnishads and then Purans were written by the Iranian branch of Arya's, most of them were descendants of Krishna Dvaipayan also known as Ved Vyas (Vyas means to divide and since he divided Veds into 4 sections i.e. Rig, Yajur, Sam and Atharv he was known as Ved Vyas). Purans gives a foggy hint about Iraq and Syria, but since the name of places, rivers, etc. is changed it becomes hard to understand.

This is what people have done in the past by changing names, language, written things according to their understanding and creating stories which may or may not be true.

Names such Gautam, Nodha and Vashishth can also be found in Zoroastrian texts such as Avestan and Yasht.

The genealogy in Sumerian King list is atleast 2900 B.C. old and the Sumerian King List is c. 2112 – 2004 BC years old.

The oldest book of Vedic Arya is Rig Ved which is said to be between 1500 - 1200 BC. This shows that between Sumerian King List and Rig Ved there is a gap of 584 - 837 BC years.

According to some people, the Purans were written between 5th and 7th BC while some say that the oldest Puran which is Matsya Puran was written between 200 - 500 CE.

The descendants of Krishna Dvaipayan also known as Ved Vyas tried to give the genealogy of Kings in Purans, but they too have made mistakes.

The further a person goes in ancient history, he is bound to make mistakes which is understandable.

Lieutenant Colonel Laurence Austine Waddell in his commendable research and has tried to give an accurate genealogy.

Here the question is not about who is right and who is wrong rather it has to be appreciated that people tried and gave their best effort.

We can find names of only those children who were either King or Governor (Ensi) hence, it can be that the Kings or Governors can have more children but their names are not mentioned.

Since it is very difficult to find information from limited available sources, there can be mistakes on my part for which I request viewers to kindly verify the information given.
